Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D is a remake of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory developed by Gameloft and published by Ubisoft. It was both an exclusive and a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS. While the game is a port of Chaos Theory, it includes features from Conviction as well, including projected text and fusion vision.

Gameplay Edit

While much of the gameplay of Splinter Cell 3D is similar to Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, there are some changes and differences between the two versions. The biggest feature of the game is the 3D, making use of the no-3D glasses technology of the Nintendo 3DS. Additionally, all of the features and gadgets for the player to use are all grouped on the lower touch-screen. The objectives, similar to Splinter Cell: Conviction, are displayed in the environment as a projection (something Chaos Theory never did). Much of the version seems to be based on the PlayStation 2/GameCube versions of Chaos Theory - which have slight differences to the Xbox/PC/PS3 versions.

Plot Edit

FeaturesEdit

Immersive 3D Action - Gameplay, Cinematic, Maps, HUD, Menus, Loading screens, and more are projected in stereoscopic 3D.

Optimized Controls - New button mapping with the Slide Pad and Touch Pad gives the player seamless control to equip weapons and gadgets for more effective mission executions.

Enhanced Weapons - Protagonist Sam Fisher is equipped with enhanced weapons and better gadgets to infiltrate the enemy: new fusion goggles, OCP electronic disabling device, wall mine, more add-ons for the SC-20K Rifle, smoke and gas grenades.

Infiltration Evolved - Lock picking is enhanced by utilizing the new Slide Pad to mimic the realism of lock picking. Hacking has also evolved from numeric codes to solving interactive 3D puzzles.

ReceptionEdit

Splinter Cell 3D had received mixed reviews from critics after it's release. Gamepro stated it, "Splinter Cell 3DS is far greater than it has any right to be, given the drastic overhaul made to the control scheme and the newness of portable 3D gaming."[1] GamingXP said that fans will love the remake, while the missing multiplayer modes are it's biggest drawbacks.[2] Splinter Cell 3D has received mixed reviews partly due several things like the lack of a second analogue stick a similar encounter that Splinter Cell Essentials received when released.[3]
