The Shadows were a terrorist organization from the first novel in the Splinter Cell series. Based out of Iran, the group was notorious for its suicide bombings, especially in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. The group was quietly led by Nasir Tarighian, an Iranian cult hero whose wife and children were killed during the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. Nasir had since changed his look and relocated to Turkey, where he was known as Namik Basaran.
