The Spider-Bot is a Fourth Echelon remote-controlled infiltration gadget used to carry out various intelligence missions. An advanced robotic gadget developed for use in the field, the Spider-Bot is able to be utilized for stealth operations as well as combat-based operations.
Description
The Spider-Bot is an advanced robotic gadget developed by Fourth Echelon primarily for missions to infiltrate enemy facilities in order to locate and retrieve information from Engineers-affiliated groups. Besides possessing an advanced robotic movement system with impressive agility, the Spider-Bot is capable of dynamically equipping itself with features for certain situations. For stealth operations, it can move about the environment without attracting the attention of guards, as well as possessing an active camouflage / cloaking device ability that can cause its outer surface armor to become invisible, disguising itself from the naked eye.
For combat and assault situations, the Spider-Bot possesses dual machine gun ports on the side of its 'head', able to transform the outer panels to raise two custom-designed machine guns to be used. The machine guns are fully automatic and feature multiple weapon system upgrades that can modify the fire rate (likely for only gameplay purposes).
History
In 2012, during the Blacklist Attacks, Fourth Echelon had sent the Spider-Bot out to various facilities where The Engineers (or possible allies of The Engineers) operated.
Trivia
- The Spider-Bot first appears in the E3 trailer for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, when it was intended to appear in the game as a gadget that players could use. The Spider-Bot never made it into the final game, however, and was instead replaced by the similar in function Fourth Echelon Tri-Rotor gadget.
- The Spider-Bot is the main 'character' that players control in the mobile game Splinter Cell Blacklist Spider-Bot for both iOS and Android devices. In this game, players could earn currency that would transfer over to Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
- In Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the player can find a Spider-Bot in Charlie's workshop on the C-147B Paladin, making an appearance in the game despite not being available for players to use.
