2005[]
Splinter Cell agent Sam Fisher was deployed by Third Echelon to the Middle East to uncover the truth about the murder of a Splinter Cell agent and track down the source of a shipment of arms seized by the Iraqi police. There he surveys and infiltrates numerous locations relating to both the Shop and the Shadows, all the while unaware that the Shop has targeted him and his only daughter, Sarah Fisher.
2006: Indonesian Incident[]
In 2006, during the Indonesian Incident, the Geula District Street Market in Jerusalem, Israel, was placed under strict curfew by the local Israeli authorities due to a rise of terrorist activities in the city of Jerusalem. The Israeli Defense Forces increased the presence of its forces and security across the district to ensure the peace, with civilian activity kept to a minimum. Unknown to the Israelis, however, was that a Syrian terrorist cell had been operating within the district deep underground in a secret facility; this fact was only known by Mossad and Shin Bet, Israeli's government agencies. During this year, rogue CIA Agent Norman Soth, a key ally of the Indonesian terrorist organization Darah Dan Doa was tracked to Jerusalem by Third Echelon, where he intended to meet with the Syrians. Suspecting that he intended to purchase biological weapons for use against the United States, Third Echelon deployed Splinter Cell agent Sam Fisher into Jerusalem to track down Soth with the aid of Israeli intelligence.
Upon airdropping into the Geula District, Fisher was informed that he was to meet with Israeli Shin Bet Agent Dahlia Tal, who was already closing in on the Syrians operating below the city. Moving discreetly past the police and civilian presence in the area, Fisher first retrieved his SC-20K M.A.W.S. from local arms dealer and CIA contact Saul Berkovitz, who was being held at gunpoint by a pair of thugs. Fisher quickly dealt with the two thieves, saving Berkovitz's life. With his newly upgraded rifle in hand, Fisher carried on towards a nearby temple where Agent Tal awaited his arrival. Meeting by a bell tower, Fisher and Tal made contact and proceeded towards the warehouse where the Syrians were alleged to be hiding. Fisher tailed Tal as she, posing as a civilian bluffed her way past several Israeli policemen. Tal informed Fisher that the biological agent in question was likely already being moved out of the city, and that they had to intercept it before this could happen.
Upon arrival at the warehouse, Fisher prepared to descend into the sublevels while Tal, refusing entry, prepared to leave the scene. At this, Lambert ordered Fisher to execute Dahlia for Shin Bet had actually plotted to betray their American allies and take the device for themselves. Fisher reluctantly obeyed his orders and killed Dahlia before continuing his mission. Fisher infiltrated the terrorists' lair and after neutralizing his opponents found the biological agent, along with one of the ND-133 stolen from the Saulnier Cryogenics Lab. Taking the sample, later identified as smallpox, Fisher fled the scene to send the sample in for analysis, bypassing the police forces securing the courtyard preceding extraction.
