Tracking Norman Soth
Edit
During his mission in Paris, Sam Fisher identified undercover CIA Agent Norman Soth as the leader of a terrorist raid against the Saulnier Cryogenics Lab, where his men murdered the staff and stole a valuable device needed for a larger operation in Indonesia. It was discovered that Soth was traveling to Nice under the alias Johnathan Poindexter via Hesperia Railways. Needing to know if Soth was an Agency asset or not, Third Echelon sent Fisher to infiltrate the train carrying Soth.
Sam deployed on to the high-speed train from above with the help of the Osprey. Irving Lambert did not grant Sam the Fifth Freedom, only non-lethal tactics due to the large number of civilians on board. Sam was also ordered not to alert the mercenaries aboard the train in fear that Norman Soth would leave the train without knowing if he was a friendly operative.

By the time Sam arrived to meet with Norman Soth's cabin, it was concluded that Norman is wearing a prosthetic leg. Sam met with Norman and discussed if he was a friendly or not, but before Sam could figure it out, Norman left the cabin to receive a call. Sam tracked him to the bar.
Norman was found talking to Suhadi Sadono while Sam listened in with the Laser microphone. Norman was playing both sides and was considered an enemy by Third Echelon. It was also learned that Soth intended to travel to Jerusalem as the next part of his plan to assist Sadono's cause. Lambert ordered Sam to leave the train before Norman had him killed. Sam escaped to the roof just as Norman prepared to evacuate the train. Fisher came under fire from an enemy helicopter but was saved when the Osprey arrived and shot it down. He then escaped and departed for Israel.
Due to the mysterious nature of the incident, the United Nations launched an investigation into what occurred on Hesperia Railways.
